Student Media Team
The Center for University Social Responsibility Practice established the NFU Photography Team in 2019 to specifically handle the filming of events for the Ministry of Education's "Phase I University Social Responsibility Practice Project." During its initial phase, the team recruited interested students. As experience accumulated and filming needs for the "Phase II University Social Responsibility Practice Project" and "Higher Education Sprout Project" grew, the team expanded.

Operating Model of the Student Team

The team leverages communication software to establish its operational model. Using group chats, activity liaisons from various projects submit filming requests. Once the shooting personnel for the event are confirmed, the Center plans the editing. For specific projects like the USR projects (e.g., highlight stories, testimonials) and the Higher Education Sprout Project (e.g., promotional videos, event footage), the Center assigns a lead member to coordinate support from team members on scripting, shooting, and editing to meet deadlines. New recruits are initially guided through practical operations by senior members, and once they mature, they take independent control of the shooting site.

Flipping the Learning Model to Enhance Career Competitiveness

The Center regularly holds "Photography Team Consensus Meetings" and "Annual Review Meetings." During these sessions, team members work together to refine project items and operational ideas based on phased goals. They also review individual annual time management and team performance. In the review meetings, team members' individual edited videos are played in turn, and critical guidance is provided on professional aspects such as color grading, lighting, and editing flow. Through the annual inventory of assignments and editing capacity, students gain self-awareness of the importance of their involvement in filming. While managing personal factors like coursework, capstone projects, and external freelance work, they review their shooting and editing status, continuously refining their technical skills and narrative abilities. By establishing the NFU Photography Team, the university provides students with opportunities for practical experience, hones their filming skills, helps them explore future career paths, and cultivates exceptional talent with unique and competitive strengths.

Team Accomplishments

Since 2019, the NFU Photography Team has filmed and edited over a hundred videos, with 86 currently publicly available (https://bit.ly/2mq5ol7). These include 4 videos for the "2020 USR-EXPO" (with "Turning · Shiguixi Village" being shortlisted) and 4 "Witness Testimonial" videos (including "【USR Youths Use Bamboo Weaving to Evoke Local Memories】" featuring the award-winning Dai Yufeng). For the "2021 USR ONLINE EXPO," the team produced 1 highlight story, 4 "My USR Show" videos, and 7 "I Have Something to Say" videos, totaling 20 videos. The power of teamwork drives the team's continuous improvement, with the quality of its videos increasingly recognized by various departments within the university. The team has been invited to teach professional courses during university-wide TA training and innovative practice course TA training, covering "Basic Filming and Editing" and "Advanced Editing Operations (Templates) for USR Categories." By leveraging online platforms, the team adds value to the promotion of its core objectives.
