Net-Zero Carbon Roadmap
National Formosa University's 2048 Net-Zero Emissions Declaration
Based on the vision of becoming a sustainable, low-carbon campus, National Formosa University has formulated net-zero carbon emissions goals and strategies. The university is continuously promoting various energy-saving and carbon-reduction initiatives, including:
  • Green building design
  • Promoting a green campus and a net-zero green lifestyle
  • Establishing an energy management system
  • Installing solar power systems, Replacing energy-efficient equipment
These actions are intended to enhance the university's resilience to climate change and move toward the sustainable goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2048.

National Formosa University's 2048 Net-Zero Carbon Emissions Declaration Signing and Pathway
National Formosa University officially announced its net-zero emissions target on April 22, 2024, at the opening of its first annual Sustainability Week. President Chang Hsin-liang signed the NFU 2048 Net-Zero Emissions Declaration, which specifically lays out the university's net-zero pathway through six major strategies: green energy, energy efficiency, carbon sinks, circularity, green living, and education and research. With 2022 as the baseline year, the university aims to achieve a 15% reduction in emissions by 2028 in the first phase, a 50% reduction by 2034 in the second phase, and net-zero emissions by 2048.

Sustainability Report Publication
Sustainability is an international trend, and the Ministry of Education also encourages universities and colleges to actively integrate Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into their institutional development plans and subsequently publish sustainability reports.

In 2023, National Formosa University (NFU) published its first Sustainability Report. The report was written in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and verified by an independent external body based on the AA1000 Assurance Standard, confirming the quality of the report and showcasing NFU's efforts in sustainability to the public.
Based on the concept of a "Resilient NFU," the university will continue to face the challenges of global sustainable development. The school will coexist with the local community by focusing on three major goals: university governance, environmental sustainability, and social inclusion, in order to create a sustainable future.
