During the workshop, community residents will discuss local climate adaptation plans. The aim is for community co-learning and co-creation to deepen residents' understanding of climate change and strengthen their ability to act, enabling them to propose adaptive strategies tailored to their local environment in the future.
Associate Professor Cheng Bai-you from the Office of Sustainability at National Formosa University was invited to the workshop to explain, in a clear and accessible manner, the impacts of climate change on the community. Director Lin Jia-hua from the Office of Sustainability believes that through direct contact and interaction with residents, the public can better understand the actions taken by academia and government agencies, allowing many forward-looking ideas to gain public recognition.
Director Li Ming-yueh of the County Government's Department of Planning stated that since promoting the low-carbon and sustainable policy, Yunlin County has been actively collaborating with universities and communities to adopt a governance model that integrates education, participation, and action. This ensures that climate adaptation is not solely the government's responsibility but a way of life collectively practiced by all citizens. Only by starting from the community and making changes in daily life can Yunlin proceed more steadily and farther on the path of net-zero transition. The county government will continue to integrate various resources, encourage more villages and towns to join the ranks of low-carbon sustainable communities, and promote climate action with public participation.
